Biography:
Dr. Pulak Kar is an Assistant Professor of Biological Sciences at SRM University–AP, India, and a former Senior Postdoctoral Research Scientist at the University of Oxford, United Kingdom. He completed his Ph.D. in Biochemistry from the University of Kalyani before undertaking more than a decade of postdoctoral research at Oxford, where he investigated calcium signaling, genome stability, DNA damage responses, and ADP-ribosylation biology. His research combines molecular cell biology, cancer biology, and signal transduction to understand how post-translational modifications regulate disease progression. His current work focuses on PARP-mediated ADP-ribosylation signalling in prostate cancer, with particular interest in androgen receptor regulation, therapeutic resistance, and precision therapeutic strategies. Dr. Kar has published extensively in high-impact journals, including EMBO Journal, Science Advances, Molecular Cell, PNAS, Current Biology, and Gens and Development. He currently serves as an Editorial Board Member for multiple international journals and as a Guest Editor for Frontiers in Pharmacology. His research aims to translate mechanistic discoveries into novel therapeutic approaches for cancer and other human diseases.
